Neatly Hidden

Do you remember
The time you held my freezing
Hand without flinching?

And what about the time
When you forced yourself
Awake just to watch the movie with me?

Oh. The laughs we laughed,
Our wet eyes that betrayed our bravery,
The firm hugs
And the comfort of friendship
We gave each other.

Yet
We let the intimacy of our
Feelings be forgotten in
The lame words we
Clumsily string together.

'I miss you and your lovely
Cooking' you say to me,
While
I hide my feelings
In a complex map of half-spoken
Sentences.

We're afraid we'd
Scare each other off.
Little do we know that
Maybe we'd bring each other
Closer if we could only
Speak.

    Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
    The day's divinity
    First thing you see.

A vast radiant beach in a cool jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by it's quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us.
Choose they croon the Ancient Ones
    The time has come again
    Choose now, they croon
    Beneath the moon
    Beside an ancient lake
    Enter again the sweet forest
    Enter the hot dream
    Come with us
Everything is broken up and dances.
