Twilight Time

'Twilight is the most torturous time. It's the time when even Nature cannot make up its mind between night and day. It's a time of transition..and transition is always a painful experience. It is an ending to something and the beginning to something quite opposite colliding. Yep. Twilight depresses me.'

Those words were ringing in her ears when she watched the beautiful mélange of soft shades as the sun began to set. It was, perhaps, one of the most breathtaking, peaceful times in the recent past for her. Her city was spread out until the horizon like it was supplicating to the majestic sun. The sun - heavy with the days duties done, gloriously ensconced in the many shades that only Nature can create, kingly like the worthy chariot of the gods. The pink rays touched the clouds above her head while reaching out to the very east. They seemed to linger over the gigantic rocks as if they were gently kissing them good night.

When was the last time you experienced gentleness? She turned around to see the master and his dog. Hobbit, the dog, was attacking the trickle of water from the tap. He had devised his own game which basically was attacking the water for a few seconds, then running all around the terrace in a circle and coming back to the attacking. He was getting tired but he was happy. There were people to love him. He was beside himself with joy that, finally, someone has come to take care of him. He needed someone to play with him, pet him, ensure that he is loved. All day, Hobbit, has been dehydrating in that hot, hot house with not a soul to play with. Hobbit was ecstatic now. It was evening, it was getting cooler, there was water and there were people.

What is it that you count most - the people you have in your phonebook or the people you can count on and whose numbers don't need to be in a phonebook for that? She turned back to watch the wondrous sunset and contemplate this thought. She has changed so many friends because none of them knew what it meant to give their all for a friendship. She was once very sad thinking that she would never find people who she can count on no matter what. She was unhappy that this world existed of people who were blinded by the world's wrong lessons and couldn't see that life's miracle was in the simple truth - love. She loved people enough to help anyone who said they needed it.

Is there a particular time that you can say, 'Yes, I need this at this moment'? He was playing with Hobbit. He loves Hobbit. He loves her. But, for a while, he didn't know that he needed this love. He needed Hobbit's unconditional, mad love for his master. He needed her reliable, honest love for him. He still cannot acknowledge the fact that he needs these two different kind of loves. He still needs to be hit with the depth of love he is capable of having and giving. He needs to get out of the shackles of his past, stop playing games with his past ghosts and move on. When his mind's eyes are cleansed..he will be the man that we will all want to love.

If you know you want something, then what's stopping you from getting it? Because there's a journey involved in this transaction. The starting point is the want and the end point is the 'something'. This journey can be arduous, lonely, happy, sad, messy, beautiful, amazing, torturous..it can be what you make it to be. This is a journey of choice. Life comprises a number of choices, these choices lead you on different roads, these different roads take you to pit-stops, these pit-stops are times when you accumulate all the experiences gained so far before re-embarking on the journey of choices.

Choice? Yes, choice. Like she chooses to love him. Like he chooses to love Hobbit and her. Like Hobbit chooses to love people. She had chosen his company, touch, lips, presence, thoughts, desires, dreams..she had chosen every moment with him. This has set her on a road to find the friend she always wanted.

He had chosen to love them. He had chosen Hobbit and this has led him to feel vulnerable, responsible and moved by a creature that does not speak - but there was a difference in this. This was Hobbit - who will soothe the wounds of his past, who will love him with every tender lick of his tongue, who will stick by him. He had chosen to love her which has now set him on a journey he needs to still discover, accept and feel comfortable enough to cherish.

Hobbit had chosen to love people. He has chosen to feel energetic with people around him and this has placed him on the road to evoking the finer feelings of the people around him. His adamant need for people is drawing people and their love toward him.

The choices have been made, the roads were taken and now the three of them are reaching a pit-stop. It will soon be time to accumulate, contemplate and enjoy these choices made. Something all three will find hard because they had waited long for this. They might be perturbed, scared and might run away because of this. It will be a time for faith and testing it. It will be a time for change. It will be hard, but it will be great.

So yes, it will be torturous because it is twilight time. They will need to choose between what was and what can be.

Phoenix Rises - I knew you'd say something like that! Not everything in life has to be quick to read and short - except me! :D
